Northeast Special Steel Group Co., Ltd. (referred to as: Northeast Special Steel Corporation) is located in the coastal city of Dalian. It is the gateway of Northeast China to the world and enjoys extremely convenient water and land transportation conditions.
The predecessor of Northeast Special Steel Co., Ltd. was Dalian Steel Factory. It was the first enterprise in China to develop and produce high-speed tool steel, silver-bright steel, aluminum-chromium alloy and hard alloy, and it was also the first precision alloy production base in China. It provided strong support in the form of special steel materials for the domestic production of automobiles, the construction of high-speed railways, the development of wind power industries, and the manufacturing of precision components in China.

The history of Northeast Special Steel Co. can be traced back to 1905. Through the unremitting efforts of several generations of steel workers, the enterprise has developed into a key backbone enterprise in China’s special steel industry. Especially since the environmental protection relocation and production start-up in 2011, the enterprise has achieved a leapfrog development, establishing eleven high-quality special steel production lines, with an annual production capacity of 1.4 million tons of iron, 2.6 million tons of special steel, and 2.3 million tons of materials. On October 10, 2017, the strategic investor Jiangsu Shagang Group took over Northeast Special Steel Co., and the company entered a new stage of development. It has taken bold measures in product structure adjustment, positioning itself as “more specialized in special steel and combining excellence”, continuously transforming and developing, and meeting new challenges with stable quality and reasonable costs, providing better products and services for new and old customers. There are currently over 5,600 employees in the company.
Northeast Special Steel Co. also has strong capabilities in product research and development. The company has over 630 professional technicians, including 84 personnel with senior or above technical titles, and more than 100 doctoral and master’s degree holders. The company has established long-term and stable cooperation mechanisms with research institutes and universities such as Beijing Iron and Steel Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences Metal Research Institute, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Northeastern University, Dalian University of Technology, and Liaoning University of Science and Technology. It fully utilizes the technical and human resources advantages of these institutions to enhance its own innovation capabilities.
